A Trilogy
LOVE GONE SOUTH
New Orleans - Silent Lover - Mickey
Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION
The Love Gone South Trilogy Series comprised of three chapters begins as a romantic modern fairytale, set in the southern United States. As the belief in the veracity of the events described throughout the trilogies increases, its characters eventually merge into real life legends. The narrative will be progressively perceived by the audience, as such grounded in today’s relatable current socio-political affairs, truths, and deceptions. Narrated through nine story-driven rock songs synced with multimedia short films*, the Love Gone South visual-musical essay explores the notion and the line between reality, simulation, psychedelics, supernatural, magic and the indestructible and unstoppable power of True Love.
*Multimedia Videos: Animation, Film, Photography and Virtual Reality.
THE FIRST TRILOGY
PLOT
Once upon a time a traveling musician JIMMY (33) meets a former beauty queen MADELINE (42), a single mother with two kids who is living under her means in the parishes of “New Orleans.” After spending an eventful day, he end up at a wooden shack by the Mississippi River where he spends the night and a year or two goes by.
He truly loves this tiny family, the kids, the dog and the simple gypsy life as he works hard to put food on the table. However, shortly into this romance, he begins to quietly suffer as he doesn’t feel that he is measuring up to a former lover of hers. He feels this way as Madeline often zones out with a distinctive unbroken velvet gaze as if she is quietly in love and that her affections lie elsewhere. She is a “Silent Lover.”
One dark moonless night in the middle of summer, having done his time, the father of the kids comes back from prison busting through the door with a gun. Jimmy dodges a few bullets before Madeline steps in to protect him. But after all, she drops him off at the same spot that he was found. Haunted and broken, Jimmy flies out of The Big Easy to The City of Angels.
A year later her criminal boyfriend gets killed in a drug war. Shortly after, in hopes of seeking forgiveness and to confess a truth that she has kept secret for many years, she leaves everything behind, grabs the children and sets out on a quest only to find Rumi months later in The City of New York. She reveals that the very first time that they met was about 14 years ago in southern Illinois at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi River. And that upon their first meeting she witnessed the devil slip a “Mickey” in his drink.
Knowing that he is now in a vulnerable situation, she breaks away from her boyfriend and intervenes to save his soul. The two end up having a hot minute affair spending a magical night together. The Next morning, she sneaks out of his motel room and leaves a note behind that reads: “So long, little Prince, you are now free...” However committed, she leaves, with a heavy heart and a paradoxical feeling that he, could have been the one.
She ends up having two children with her boyfriend but over time he becomes abusive and violent and eventually gets locked up in prison. That’s when she decides to disappear with the kids as she travels down to the south of Mississippi River. 11 years later, by divine order, Madeline & Jimmy cross paths again when she pulls up in her junkyard-ready black Pontiac to pick him up on streets of New Orleans. This time, of course, he can’t remember her, because… Mickey.

We explore their story from Madeline’s perspective over a 15-year timespan, starting from when she sees the devil slip a mickey in his drink till when she finds him in New York City.
CUT TO:
It is not until the end of this Trilogy that we will find out whether they will get back together or not. When she finds Jimmy in New York City she reveals the truth and asks for forgiveness. She then lets Jimmy think it all over. After ruminating all night, the next morning he steps out of his building. Madeline, cigarette in hand, she is leaning against the black Pontiac with her kids sleeping in the back. Jimmy, solemnly, with long strides and an unbroken velvet gaze, advances, and stands before her. They take a moment as they see through each other’s naked souls. He then wraps a bandana around her neck. They embrace.
FADE OUT.
THE THIRD TRILOGY
With a serendipitous ending of the 2nd Trilogy, we proceed to portray the events that follow their life together in New York City and their activism in the socio-political scene.
THE PHILOSOPHY OF "LOVE GONE SOUTH"
TRUE LOVE
"Do you believe in destiny? That even the powers of time can be altered for a single purpose? That the luckiest man who walks on this earth is the one who finds... true love?"
True Love manifests itself in Love Gone South when each character finds their other half and as a result, they become an unstoppable force. Through these trilogies, we will discover what the lovers of our story do with this power. The True Love philosophy has been assigned to a few literary works and pop culture entries, most notably depicted in the film “Natural Born Killers.” However, our trilogy, as an antidote, will have a positive take on the overall theme.
THE MORNING STAR
..is referred to the love that comes to someone right before they meet their True Love. It feels like true love but in reality, it is only a preparation for what is to come next. This philosophy has been inspired by the observation of the rise of the planet Venus at dawn. As planet Venus rises in the morning sky, it is the brightest object until the Sun rises above it. Therefore, in literary works of ancient mythology, Venus was given various names such as; the Fallen Angel, the God Wannabe, and the Morning Star. And of course, the Sun being, the True Love.
THE ELECTS
The Elects philosophy describes the idea of invincibility of the next couple that has been appointed the divine True Love. Further explaining that the power of True Love is an energy passed on from the principal couple to the next and is never truly destroyed nor forgotten. This process actuates during the liminality state, starting when the principles have successfully served their calling and before they fade-out into annihilation.

SILENT LOVER
Music Video Visual Treatment
Set in the mid-2000s in the parishes of the City of New Orleans, Silent Lover music video will be portrayed with a cinematic look and a short film structure which includes two narrative scenes, a prologue and an epilogue with speaking parts on both ends of the video. Below, you can see on the mood board, visuals that closely represent the envisioned aesthetics of the Silent Lover video. Jimmy and Madeline’s relationship, however, attained is one of a mystery.
